We produce all of our products and interact with all of our customers with positive vision in mind, and hope to inspire positive change in the world of eyecare and beyond. When the World Happiness Report of 2021 was published, we were quick to jump on it.
The year of 2020 felt like a lifetime. There was endless tragedy and skyrocketing stress levels around the world. While watching the news helps to put experiences into some perspective, we’ve compiled some interesting statistics to look at in hindsight, from the view of 2021.
How Impactful is Positivity?
We’re passionate about making a positive impact with our brand, in the hope that we can make a big difference in the eyecare industry. With the findings of this report, we see how much farther this mission can impact the world. The report found that “People whose sense of loneliness increased, and feeling of connectedness decreased, however many positive features of a person's life helped to protect their sense of connectedness. These included gratitude, grit, prior connections, volunteering, taking exercise, and having a pet. It also helped to have activities that provided 'flow.”
One of the large findings of this report was the importance of trust. As the report stated, “Trust and the ability to count on others are major supports to life evaluations, especially in the face of crises. To feel that your lost wallet would be returned if found by a police officer, by a neighbour, or a stranger, is estimated to be more important for happiness than income, unemployment, and major health risks”.
How Can I Get the Most Out of 2021?
One subject that this report explained in great detail is the idea of creating common currency. By consciously attaching emotions to your experiences, you can easily look back and log which days were “positive emotion days” and which were “negative emotion days”. To put it simply, do more of what makes you happy and less of what makes you unhappy. This can mean putting more time into a passion project, outsourcing work that you don’t find enjoyable but someone else does, and so on depending on your situation.
